Stampede Reservoir
Stampede Reservoir lake has 25 miles of sage and coniferous shoreline. There are several campgrounds at the lake operated by the USFS that are suitable for tent, RV’s or group camping. All boating is permitted. Water levels drop dramatically toward the end of summer, however, extended low water launch ramps are available. Truckee Ranger District (530) 478-6257. Directions to Lake: From Loyalton, hwy 49 West, left on 89 to Truckee.  From Truckee, on Hwy I-80; go E 6 mi. to Stampede Dam Truckee Rd. Turn N, go 10 mi. (past Boca Res.) to USFS Rd. 19N69 (Dog Valley Rd.). Turn W, go across dam, 1 mi. to camp.  or

From Loyalton, head out of town on hwy 49, turn up Smithneck and travel less than 15 miles.. dirt road.
